The field tests in which Ecostar SC600 by Celli played a key role were completed with excellent results: this is an innovative solution for disinfection and disinfestation of soil. The scene of the tests was Switzerland, where the machine was used to fight Erdmandelgras (Cipero), a weed in various types of plantations and, in particular for Switzerland, in potatoes.
Ecostar SC600 is based on a system patented by Celli which consists in adding an exothermic reagent (a harmless product like lime) to the soil by means of a spreader and of a rotary clod-smasher, followed by a double injection of vapor (in the surface and down to a depth of 20-25 cm). The interaction between vapor and lime generates an exothermic reaction which causes a sort of “pasteurization” because temperature remains high for a sufficiently long period of time. In this manner soil can be “reclaimed” and weeds and pests eliminated without releasing any harmful chemical substance into the environment, neither for the operator in charge of treatment, nor for useful microorganisms, and nor for the product that will be planted and then harvested. The “biological vacuum” is avoided in this manner and operations are performed in compliance with the most recent and relevant European provisions.
In addition to easy handling (which is greater in the radio-controlled version), it is also thanks to this system that Ecostar SC600 excellently passed field tests in Switzerland, in front of operators that were certainly interested in this innovative solution.
